Hi – this is Stacy at Two the Root. In our experience both diaper rash and eczema are related to a food sensitivity – either something that the breast-feeding mama is eating or something that was introduced directly to the child. Foods as simple as apples and celery can be the cause. Just a thought….
Just messaged you about my 19 month old’s eczema!
I used a product with Melaleuca oil in it for both issues, and they were incredible…and non-toxic, too. It’s called Melagel, and I use it for burns, cuts, bites, etc., as well…I don’t go anywhere without it.
A tried and true recipe ( but sorry no pics- my youngest is a toddler now ) Cornstarch, it works.
If baby suffers from ongoing diaper rash, parents should check if it might be a yeast infection. Often they are treating with balms and lotions, but it only covers up the problem (literally!). Yeast looks more like raised, red bumps. Just a thought.
Just messaged you about my son’s diaper rash
Warm 1/4 c. coconut oil, cool, and mix with 1/4 c. shea butter. I use it for diaper rash and extremely dry skin. Works for our family!
I agree, Stacy! Although sometimes I have found in the case of diaper rash that it can be a bacterial thing from cloth diapers or a chemical sensitivity to ‘sposies. The balm I’m testing is not meant to “cure” these conditions, but to help soothe while mama works on the root cause
So I emailed you about my son with eczema, but I’m super curious what it is!! We figured out his food allergies (at least for the most part) and it’s helped TREMENDOUSLY. But every now and then something triggers a flare up! Unfortunately all of the natural solutions are based on coconut oil or shea butter and he seems to be allergic to both of them! Tragic, I know. I’d LOVE some other solutions. Right now we rely on Neutrogena eczema solutions. I hate loading him up on chemicals but it’s seriously the only thing that we’ve found that can work.
That would be perfect. My son is cloth diapered!!
If it is yeast that is causing the diaper rash a few drops of ACV in water, applied with a cotton ball can really help!
My daughter Isabella, who is 21 months, keeps suffering from eczema. We eat a very healthy diet, CLO, homemade lotion, and I took her off of wheat. Up until last January she had the most beautiful skin that I never had to put lotion on. I don’t know what happened after that.
