Are home births, when attended by midwives, safe? Since I am crazy busy Daddypotamus does the Standard Process Weight Loss/Purification Cleanse” href=”http://www.mommypotamus.com/daddypotamus-cleanse/” target=”_self”>helping Daddypotamus with his SP Cleanse I am going to let the experts speak today.
By experts, I mean real medical doctors and everything! I don’t get all of my research from the fringes you know (although that is the best place to look if you want research that’s not skewed by big companies with blank checks).
Whether you’re pro-home birth or more inclined to choose a hospital setting, check this video out. I promise it’s worth it ; – )
As a side note, home births costs less, too. I am one of the millions of uninsured, so this birth is coming out of our pocket. Daniel and Katie are covered through his work, but the cost to add me was almost $1K per month. Unbelievable.
I would never put my baby’s health at risk to gain a financial advantage, but since I believe home is the safest place for me to give birth the savings are just a bonus.
As a side, side note: Regardless of the inconvenience of not having health insurance I am disappointed that the new government healthcare bill passed. Read Gov’t Healthcare and Me: Not Meant to Be! for my take on that.
Did this video change your view of home births? Would you do it (if you have a uterus)?
