“Spore form probiotics are the Chuck Norris of probiotics: total tough guys.” ~ Dr. Oz

It’s true. Dr. Oz and I may not agree on everything, but man-oh-man did he get this right. Soil-based organisms (SBO’s) can roundhouse kick pathogens while folding origami swans and eating a sourdough hoagie. Blindfolded.

Not all are the same, though. One of the most well-known soil-based probiotics on the market contains only **a single** strain derived from soil – the rest are lactic acid-based bacteria! Now, you guys know I’m a huge fan of lactic acid bacteria, but they’re very sensitive to heat, light, shock, and stomach acid. That’s why although I consume fermented foods everyday, I choose to round out my “good guy” intake with hardier strains. Someday soon I hope my SBO’s will come straight from my garden, but for now I take them in supplement form.

So What Would You See . . .

If you peeked into my kitchen cabinet right now? The answer to that, folks, is Prescript Assist.

Prescript Assist a blend of 29 soil-based species that are inherently resilient – tests show that even after exposure to 98F+  heat for two years they still maintain 95% viability! Found in fertile, organic tilth, this particular set of  traditionally-derived species has been formulated with thorough research, and there is nothing else on the market with more diversity.

So what doesn’t it have? Just stuff you don’t want anyway, like fillers and common allergens. As in no milk, egg, fish, peanuts, shellfish, soy, tree nuts, wheat, yeast, corn, flow agents, preservatives or gremlins . . . just a cellulose capsule!

Do you take GutPro Probiotics as well as the Prescript Assist Probiotics? Do you feel the two are compatible or is Prescript Assist the only probiotic you take? Thanks!

    • Heather says:

I only take GUTPro when I fall behind on making fermented veggies – they’re what I usually rely on for LAB’s. I do take Prescript Assist on a regular basis, though.

Would these work instead of BioKult probiotics or to be used in conjunction with them? I’m looking for a good probiotic to take on GAPS.

I was wondering if this was ok to take while pregnant? I have currently been taking a different brand of pre/probiotics and it’s almost gone. I’d like to switch to something more organic/natural. I read about another brand that causes serious diarrhea for a few days and didn’t want something that “violent”. I was hoping to find something a little more gentle. Thank you!

This is a wonderful product. We are now using this in our home. Though I do have a question for all of you – have you found a probiotic (that does not need to be refrigerated) that your children like to take? Someone recommended Rainbow Light’s gummies. Any suggestions? Thank you and best wishes all!

  7. Catherine says:

Hi there, may I ask what probiotics you are giving your children? I am looking for something that does not need to be refrigerated. We parents are taking this product, mentioned above, but I am wondering about gummies like Rainbow Lights.
Thank you and best wishes Mamas!

I was wondering if you take a prebiotic with this?
