Things I Love (June 2012)

Yesterday I Peeled Bubble Wrap . . .

Off photos I’ve been waiting three years to hang, then made my way down to the bridge in our backyard to play billy goats gruff. I was the troll, of course. Life is good, and my resolve to relish the days that flit by was far too easy this month.

Here Are The Things That Made My June

  • Punctual chickens. We were told they’d start laying in June, and they presented us with their first gift on the morning of June 1
  • Moving day. Mini-tour of our new home coming soon!
  • Buying “pet milk” at the Farmer’s Market to make these tri-colored popsicles for July 4th
  • This gentle nudge to make new friends right where I feel most comfortable (you know where that is!)
  • Harvesting wild mint and watercress from our backyard stream, and beating the birds to the blackberries
  • This conversation with Katie
  • Explaining to farmers market vendors that I do not own a restaurant, but am in fact just very hungry :)
  • These grain-free apple pancake rings, because they taste just a little like funnel cake!
  • Micah plunging his hand down my shirt during our first visit to the church nursery, only to have a 16 year old girl say “Do you want to nurse him? My mom breastfed my brother until he was 4.”
  • Finally, spinach Daddypotamus will eat! (Note to self: Add “creamed” to the title of any food and it’s a go)
  • Ya’ll making me laugh
  • Discovering these blender brownies
  • This Italian zucchini lasagna for oh-so-many reasons. My local farmers are practically giving away their bumper crop for free, it stores well in the freezer for a lazy day, and of course it’s delicious!
  • And of course, these moments ♥

What made you smile in June?

Your thoughts and pics makes me smile deeply on the inside and out. Thankful for you!!
So blessed to feel so in love and bonded with my precious daughter moving inside of me. Giddy happy to spoil my husband on his birthday and Father’s day this month. Grateful to be given two rascally boys who are a constant joy and so full of life. God is so good!

Growing belly (24 weeks!), a husband who adores my preggo body, new-to-us furniture at an amazing price, cleaning out the TV room, hosting friends for dinner, getting the blogger bug again, our first outing with the goddaughter, and the prospect of finally getting our own home!

    • Heather says:

24 weeks already??? YAY! Seems like just yesterday I got the “shhh, don’t tell anyone but . . . ” email. Sounds like a glorious month!

  8. Margo Snider – We’ll meet you there! Seriously.

  9. Amy Jo – Wow wow WOW! I was just talking the other day about how I want to go crabbing this year because I’ve never eaten something I had to kill myself. I’m not looking forward to it, but at the same time I feel it’s important for me to overcome the disconnect I’ve had with the life cycle, you know? Yay for a sourdough starter older than I am!

  10. Sandy (NZ) says:

Feeling my baby kick inside me for the first time ever, her Daddy getting his turn a bit later, going on maternity leave months early with the loving support of my husband so I can just concentrate on growing this beautiful baby!

    • Heather says:

Awww, congrats Sandy! Enjoy your time! I insisted on working right up to my daughter’s birth because I was going to “rest after baby.” Hahahahahahaha!

  11. Wow! I’m pretty psyched that my brownies made your June! You just made mine! Thanks for the shout out!
