Hey, you’re blurry!
Wait, you’re actually fine, that’s just the month of December moving way. too. fast.
Before we close out this crazy, beautiful year I thought it would be fun to look back and see some of the highlights. In case you missed them the first time around, here are some of your favorite posts (plus a few of mine!)
Many of you wrote to tell me that your kids used this simple, no sew method for making farmer’s market bags out of old t-shirts yet. Hooray for fostering creativity and DIY fun!
This moon sand recipe is squishy yet crumbly, and strangely stress-relieving if you squeeze it in your palm. But the real reason I love it is that my kids are so fascinated by it I can sneak off to the bathroom by myself.
This was a very personal post for me. Being a parent sometimes means waking up tired, feeling overwhelmed and even feeling cranky. That’s just part of the deal. But when I started feeling a little too tired, a little too overwhelmed, and a little too snippy, I took a deep breath and read up on adrenal fatigue.
Here’s a simple test you can do to check for it at home. We’ve already discussed some solutions, but I’ll be covering more soon. Stay tuned for a review of The Adrenal Reset Diet!
One of the top lifestyle changes I’ve made to support my adrenals is to prioritize sleep. Unfortunately, there is so much conflicting advice out there about how to get a good night’s sleep: Eat a high-protein snack before bed, or don’t eat at all, or focus on carbs and salt as well as protein. Argh!
After reading through it all, here’s what I’ve found most helpful: 18 Science-Backed Tips For Deeper, Longer Sleep
This was one of your favorites. Commercial sports drink companies are finally removing a chemical used as a flame retardant from their formulas, but critics are worried that what they’re replacing it with is not much better.
Fortunately, you can make a yummy homemade electrolyte sports drink that replaces vital minerals and electrolytes after a hard workout or during illness. (I used a version of this drink during labor. You can find that recipe here.)
The recipes I post have usually gone through several trials (often with lots of flops) before making the cut. They’re like old friends, and it’s hard to pick favorites.
But if I absolutely HAD to, it would probably be these cookie dough ice cream sandwiches. I seriously feel like a traitor now. Bacon And Chicken Liver Pâté, if you’re reading this, I hope we can still be yoga buddies.
I had to laugh when I saw this post from Meg on my Facebook wall:
“Oh no! The shaving cream page has been taken down and we love it! Anyone happen to have the recipe and can help a mama out?”
Oops! As it turns out, the page had gone down due to a server issue, but based on the thread that unfolded when it went missing you guys like it as much as we do. In case you missed it, here’s my all-natural homemade shaving cream.
Many “healthy” mineral-based powders may accelerate aging, but you can make your own powdered foundation with cocoa, arrowroot powder, and a few other ingredients. Here’s the recipe I use.
Fire cider is a delicious way to boost immune function, stimulate digestion and warm up on cold winter days. Here’s how to make it.
Well, it’s not glamorous, but it was one of this year’s most popular posts. Check out the remedies here.
This year, ants descended on my kitchen and tried to steal my homemade strawberry jam. So what did I do? I consulted university entomology resources for help identifying what’s really effective. I found some really great ideas, and I polished that jam off myself, thankyouverymuch.
Store-bought “eco-friendly” cleaners – which often contain questionable ingredients – cost about $3.84 for 32 ounces. This DIY Citrus Splash Cleaner costs about $1.62 for 32 ounces – a savings of 50%!
Colic? Reflux? Baby that won’t sleep? It may be an undiagnosed tongue or lip tie. They can be a source of SO. MUCH. MISERY. for nursing mamas and their sweet babes, including me. Here’s a step-by-step guide to checking for tongue/lip ties at home that you may find helpful.
Thank you all the mamas who have helped me get the word out by sharing this post. I seriously love you.
I saved this one for last because it is by far my favorite. There are so many reasons that I love Levi’s birth film, but I think the biggest one is watching my daughter’s reaction the moment he is born.
What do YOU want to talk about in 2015? What kinds of posts would you like to see more of? Recipes? Natural Remedies? Beauty product tutorials? Please leave a comment and let me know!
