The weather is getting toastier each day, which means it’s time for one of my favorite beverages of the season – agua fresca! Like this watermelon limeade and these three ingredient watermelon mint popsicles, this recipe is super easy and perfect for hot summer days.
Agua fresca literally translated in Spanish means “fresh water,” and is typically made with a variety of fresh fruits (and sometimes vegetables).
What I love about agua frescas is that you can be creative with them. Just mix together any variety of your favorite “watery” fruits and vegetables – oranges, limes, lemons, melons, and cucumbers, for example – to liven up your water this summer. This recipe can be made in big batches as well, making it a great for BBQ’s and pool parties.
The recipe below is made with watermelon, cantaloupe, fresh mint leaves and a hint of maple syrup to enhance the natural sweetness and add a few extra minerals (you can use raw honey if you’d like instead, adding a punch of natural enzymes). Plus, I am all about simple – and it really doesn’t get any simpler than this. Serve chilled, sit back, and sip yourself into relaxation…
Watermelon Agua Fresca With Cantaloupe And Mint
- Place diced watermelon, cantaloupe, mint leaves, and the maple syrup in a blender until it breaks everything down into a thin liquid mixture.
- Once everything is blended and liquidy, squeeze in the lime juice. Pour the mixture through a strainer to filter out any fibrous material left over from the blending process.
- Serve over ice and garnish with mint leaves - enjoy on a hot summer day and be refreshed!
